The Biblical View of Drunkenness

The Bible speaks clearly against drunkenness, portraying it as a sin that is contrary to God's law. In the Old Testament, God issued warnings to His servants to abstain from drinking, and the priests were forbidden from drinking before serving in the Tabernacle (Leviticus 10:9). The Bible also warns that excessive drinking can lead to a multitude of negative consequences, including impaired judgment, poor health, and a lack of self-control (Proverbs 31:4-5). The New Testament continues this theme, with Jesus calling those who indulge in drunkenness "a drunkard" (Matthew 11:19; Luke 7:34).
