Biblical Answer

The Bible speaks strongly against drunkenness and excessive drinking. In the Old Testament, God issued warnings to His servants to abstain from drinking, and in the New Testament, drunkenness is listed as a sin alongside other vices such as sexual immorality and greed (1 Cor. 5:11; 6:9-10; Gal. 5:19-21). The Bible warns that drinking can lead to a multitude of negative consequences, including stomach problems, poor judgment, and a lack of self-control (Proverbs 31:6-7).

The Bible does not explicitly forbid drinking alcoholic beverages, but it does warn of the dangers of excessive drinking. In fact, the Bible speaks of the benefits of drinking in moderation, such as the joy it can bring to those who are perishing or have a bitter life (Proverbs 31:6-7). Christians are called to live a life of sobriety and self-control, and to seek God's guidance and strength in their daily lives (1 Corinthians 15:34).

In the Bible, drunkenness is often compared to other forms of idolatry, where people seek to fill their voids with temporary pleasures rather than seeking God's guidance and strength. The Bible teaches that true fulfillment and joy can only be found in a relationship with God, and that seeking to fill our voids with temporary pleasures will ultimately lead to harm and destruction (Romans 14:13-21).
