Biblical Answer

When we are not in control, it can be a difficult and frustrating experience. We may feel like we're being pulled in different directions, or that our desires and impulses are overwhelming us. This can be especially true when it comes to sin and addiction. We may feel like we're trapped by our own desires, and that we can't escape the cycle of sin and addiction. But the Bible teaches us that we are not in control of our spiritual formation. Instead, we are called to surrender to God's control and allow Him to shape us into the image of Jesus Christ. This requires us to let go of our desire for control and self-determination, and to trust in God's sovereignty and goodness.

The Bible teaches us that self-control is a skill that is learned through the power of the Holy Spirit. It involves mastering our own impulses and emotions, our willfulness, our tongue, our behavior, and our moods. This is not something that we can do on our own, but rather it is a gift from God that is available to us through faith in Jesus Christ. When we surrender to God's control, we are able to experience a new level of joy and satisfaction in life. We are no longer slaves to our desires and impulses, but rather we are able to live a life that is guided by God's wisdom and love. As the Bible says, "You will be made new in the attitude of your minds; and you will put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." (Ephesians 4:23-24)

So, what happens when we're not in control? We are given the opportunity to surrender to God's control and to trust in His sovereignty and goodness. We are able to experience a new level of joy and satisfaction in life, and we are able to live a life that is guided by God's wisdom and love. This requires us to let go of our desire for control and self-determination, and to trust in God's ability to shape us into the image of Jesus Christ. As the Bible says, "I can do all this through him who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:13) We are not in control, but we are not alone. We have a loving and sovereign God who is guiding us and shaping us into the image of Jesus Christ.
