Prioritizing Love in a World Against Us

When the world is against us, prioritizing love can be a challenging task. The Bible teaches that love is the greatest commandment, and it is the foundation upon which all other commandments are built. In fact, Jesus said that the entire law and the prophets hang on two commandments: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind," and "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-40). However, the world's understanding of love is often corrupted by sinful lusts and selfish desires, which can lead to a distorted view of love.

To prioritize love in a world against us, we must first understand that there are different types of love. The Bible teaches that there are various forms of love, including eros (romantic love), philia (brotherly love), storge (familial love), and agape (unconditional love). Agape love, which is the kind of love that is willing to sacrifice for others, is the kind of love that is most in line with God's character. When the world is against us, it can be tempting to prioritize our own interests and desires over the needs of others. However, the Bible teaches that we must prioritize love for others, even if it means sacrificing our own interests.

In order to prioritize love in a world against us, we must first cultivate a deep love for God. When we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, we will be motivated to love others as ourselves. This means that we must prioritize our relationship with God and seek to obey His commands, even when it is difficult. As we do this, we will be empowered to love others in a way that is sacrificial and unconditional, even in the face of adversity. Ultimately, prioritizing love is not just about how we feel, but about how we choose to act in obedience to God's commands. When we prioritize love, we will be able to navigate a world against us with confidence and courage, knowing that we are following the will of God.
