Finding Peace in Debt

When we feel overwhelmed by debt, it's easy to get caught up in feelings of anger, guilt, and anxiety. However, the Bible teaches us that we can find peace in the midst of financial struggles. In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus reminds us that our worth and security come from God, not from our possessions or financial situation. He says, "Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?" (Matthew 6:25).

The key to finding peace in debt is to recognize that we are not responsible for paying off the debt on our own. We can't control the circumstances of our lives, but we can control how we respond to them. By acknowledging our limitations and surrendering our worries to God, we can experience peace and freedom from anxiety. This is not to say that we should ignore our financial responsibilities or avoid making changes to our spending habits. Rather, we should approach our financial struggles with a sense of trust and dependence on God.

To find peace in debt, we need to cancel the debt in our hearts and minds. We need to forgive ourselves and others for any financial mistakes or oversights, and we need to let go of any feelings of guilt or shame. As the Bible says, "You don't owe me, you don't owe me, you don't owe me anymore." (Deuteronomy 15:1-2). By canceling the debt and surrendering our worries to God, we can experience peace and freedom from the burden of debt. We can trust that God is our provider and our protector, and that He will guide us through even the toughest financial times. Ultimately, finding peace in debt requires a deep trust in God's sovereignty and goodness, and a willingness to surrender our worries and fears to Him.
