Understanding Happiness and Wealth

Happiness is not synonymous with wealth. In fact, wealth can actually work against happiness. Many people who are wealthy can still struggle with feelings of emptiness and dissatisfaction. This is because true happiness comes from a healthy heart, not from external circumstances or possessions. As the Bible says, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need" (Mick Jagger).

The Root of Greed

Greed is not just a feeling, but a refusal to act. When we feel compassion towards those in need, but choose not to act, we are being greedy. This is because we are prioritizing our own desires over the needs of others. As the Bible says, "You don't belong to yourself, you were bought at a price." This means that we are not our own masters, but rather stewards of what we have been given. When we prioritize our own desires over the needs of others, we are acting selfishly and neglecting our responsibility to use our resources for good.

Finding True Happiness

True happiness comes from a healthy heart, not from external possessions or wealth. When we prioritize our own desires over the needs of others, we can become trapped in a cycle of dissatisfaction and greed. However, when we choose to give generously and act with compassion, we can experience true happiness and fulfillment. As the Bible says, "God loves a cheerful giver." When we give with a cheerful heart, we are not only blessing others, but also experiencing the joy and satisfaction that comes from living a life that reflects God's character. Ultimately, true happiness is found in a personal relationship with God, and living a life that reflects His values and teachings.
