The Limits of Human Knowledge and Trust

When we go to a doctor, we need faith to trust their diagnosis and prescription. This is because we cannot verify the credibility of their testimony, and even doctors can misdiagnose or struggle to explain unusual cases. The doctor's prescription is not a self-validating procedure, and we should be cautious of procedures that are self-validating, as they can "validate" bad procedures. This is why we need to discern and ask the right questions, just like when we are seeking medical treatment.

The Limits of Human Control

We also need to recognize the limits of human control and power. A doctor may prescribe a course of action, but they cannot enforce it. They are saying, "If you wish to be healthy, then do this." This is why we need to trust in a higher power, like God, who promises to make a way out for us when we are tested. We can trust in God's sovereignty and provision, even when we are facing uncertainty or difficulty. As 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

The Trust of Faith

When we trust in God, we are not trusting in someone who is unpredictable or unproven. We are trusting in a God who is sovereign and loving, who has a plan for our lives and will guide us through difficult times. We can trust in God's provision and care, even when we are facing challenges or uncertainty. As the Bible says, "No sea is deeper than the ocean of His love." We can trust in God's love and guidance, and have faith that He will provide a way out for us when we are tested. This trust is not blind or irrational; it is based on the promise of God's sovereignty and love. By trusting in God, we can find peace and confidence in the midst of uncertainty and difficulty.
