As a father of two, I've come to realize that preparing my children for my eventual passing is not just about knowing what to do next, but also about instilling in them the values and principles that will guide them in life. My wife, Susan, and I have always sought to partner with God in raising our children, Joshua and Rebecca, and we've made it a priority to teach them about God's saving grace and the importance of a close relationship with Him.

We've found that being honest with our children is crucial in helping them understand the world and its challenges. When they were younger, we used to tell them that if they woke up scared, there were monsters in their room, and we'd give them a spray bottle of water to help them feel more secure. As they grew older, we began to have more open and honest conversations with them about the realities of life, including the fact that people die. We've also made it a point to pray with them and seek God's guidance in our parenting, knowing that our prayers can have a profound impact on their lives.

As our children have grown into young adults, we've started to let go and give them more independence, while still being available to offer guidance and support. We've encouraged them to make their own decisions and learn from their mistakes, knowing that this is an essential part of their growth and development. By doing so, we've helped them develop a sense of character, competence, and calling, and we believe in them more than anyone else. We're confident that, no matter what challenges they may face in life, they will be equipped to make wise decisions and follow God wholeheartedly.
