Your Question:
Can I still have a relationship with God after this?
Answer:
As a pastor and a Christian, I've come to understand that having a relationship with God is not something that can be lost, but rather it's a relationship that can be strained or damaged by sin. Just like a child who offends their parents, our relationship with God can become strained when we sin, but our status as God's child does not change. We are still His child, but our actions have caused tension in our relationship. In fact, God is a loving Father who desires to restore our relationship with Him. He doesn't expect us to endure in our sin, but rather He wants us to respond by confessing our sin and seeking forgiveness. Just like a child who apologizes and makes amends with their parents, we can restore our relationship with God by acknowledging our sin and seeking His mercy. As I've learned from my own experiences and from Scripture, our relationship with God is not just about our actions, but also about our reliance on Him. When we rely on worldly opinion or our own strength, we can lose sight of God's love and presence in our lives. But when we focus our eyes on Him and seek to maintain a right-standing relationship with Him, we can experience the fullness of His love and presence in our lives.
