Biblical Answer

When we experience betrayal from those we trust, it can be incredibly difficult to trust again. This is especially true when the betrayal comes from family members, who are supposed to be our closest and most trusted relationships. However, as Christians, we are called to trust in God above all else, even when we experience pain and betrayal from those around us. In fact, the Bible says that God is our Rock, our Refuge, and our Savior (Psalm 18:2, 46:1, 62:7-8). He is the one who is always faithful, always trustworthy, and always loving.

The problem is that we often put our trust in people rather than in God. We may trust our family members to be there for us, to support us, and to love us unconditionally. But when they betray us, it can be devastating. It's like losing a foundation that we thought was solid. But the truth is that our trust should be in God, not in people. When we put our trust in people, we are putting our trust in something that is fragile, fallible, and finite. But when we put our trust in God, we are putting our trust in something that is eternal, unchanging, and all-powerful. As the Bible says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

So, how can we learn to trust again after experiencing betrayal from family members? The first step is to acknowledge the pain and hurt that we are feeling. It's okay to feel angry, sad, and hurt. But then we need to turn our attention to God and trust in His goodness, love, and faithfulness. We need to remind ourselves that God is our Rock, our Refuge, and our Savior. We need to pray for healing, for restoration, and for the ability to trust again. And we need to remember that God is working all things together for our good, even when it seems like the opposite is true (Romans 8:28). With time, patience, and faith, we can learn to trust again, not in people, but in God. And that is the greatest trust of all.
