The Purpose of Suffering

From a biblical perspective, suffering and loss of mobility, such as what you experienced, are not the result of God's direct action, but rather a consequence of the fall of humanity into sin. In Genesis 3, we read about the disobedience of Adam and Eve, which led to the curse of sin and its effects on the human body. This includes physical suffering and disability.
