what happens when my body gives up on me?
The Temporary Nature of Our Bodies
Our bodies are subject to decline and deterioration. As Paul says, "Our outer nature is wasting away" (2 Corinthians 4:16). This aging process includes various physical ailments that can affect us. Our bodies are not designed to last forever, and eventually, we will die. However, our resurrection bodies will be different, free from disease and aging, and will be given fullness of strength and power (Philippians 3:21).
The Spiritual Impact of Physical Weakness
When our bodies weaken, it can have a spiritual impact on us. We may feel a sense of hopelessness, despair, or even anger. However, this is not a reason to give up or lose faith. Instead, we should look to God for strength and guidance. As the Bible says, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7). We should also remember that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we should not defile them with sin (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
The Hope of Eternal Life
Our physical bodies may be weak and subject to decline, but we have hope for eternal life. Our resurrection bodies will be perfect and free from suffering. We will no longer experience pain, hunger, or thirst (Revelation 7:16). We will be given fullness of strength and power, and we will be able to live in harmony with God forever. This hope should give us comfort and encouragement, even in the midst of physical weakness and suffering. As the Bible says, "For the Lord will not cast off forever, but though he causes grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love" (Lamentations 3:31-32).
