The Paradox of Trusting God

The concept of trust in God is paradoxical. On one hand, trusting God means surrendering control and handing oneself over to Him. On the other hand, it requires taking a leap of faith and venturing out with courage on the words of Jesus Christ, despite the uncertainties of life. This paradox is rooted in the difference between the natural life and the spiritual life. In the natural life, we trust in people, money, and other external sources, which leads to slavery and worry. In contrast, trusting God requires a radical shift in our perspective, where we learn to go beyond all confidence in ourselves and others, and place our trust in Him alone.

The Nature of Trust

Trust in God is not about seeking a psychological crutch or a sense of security, but rather about surrendering our lives to Him and following His lead. It's about learning to trust in the flesh, which is the source of our strength and wisdom. When we trust in God, we are not trying to control or manipulate Him, but rather, we are trying to obey Him in a new way, a less worried way. This kind of trust is not about having a sense of security or certainty, but rather about having a sense of dependence on God. It's about recognizing that we are not self-sufficient and that our lives are not our own, but rather, they belong to God.

The Call to Trust

The call to trust God is not a call to abandon our common sense or to be reckless, but rather, it's a call to have faith in Him, even when it doesn't make sense. It's a call to trust in the unknown, to trust in the unseen, and to trust in the One who is beyond our understanding. This call to trust is not limited to our circumstances, but rather, it's a call to trust God in every aspect of our lives, including our relationships, our work, and our daily decisions. It's a call to trust God, not because He makes sense to us, but because He is the only one who can make sense of our lives. As Jesus said, "If you can't trust me for this, who can you trust?" (Matthew 9:29). The question is, will we respond to this call and trust God, even when it's difficult, or will we continue to trust in ourselves and other external sources? The choice is ours.
