Understanding the Concept of Affordability

When we say "I can't afford it," we often mean that we cannot give up something else in our lives to make room for it. This is particularly true when it comes to giving and tithing. If we are not willing to adjust our lifestyle and prioritize our giving, then we may feel like we cannot afford to live a life of faith. However, this is not a reflection of our financial situation, but rather a reflection of our priorities and values.

The True Meaning of Affordability

The Bible teaches us that true wealth is not measured by our material possessions, but by our relationship with God. Jesus became poor for our sake, so that we might become rich through His poverty (2 Corinthians 8:9). This means that we should not be so focused on accumulating wealth and material possessions that we forget the true source of our wealth and happiness. When we prioritize our relationship with God and our giving to Him, we will find that we can live a life of simplicity and contentment, even in the midst of financial uncertainty.
