Can I still trust God when bad things happen?

Trust in God Amidst Trials

When bad things happen, it can be challenging to trust God. We might wonder why He allows evil in the world or blame Him for it. However, the Bible encourages us to trust God, even in the midst of trials. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, God promises, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." This verse assures us that God will not test us beyond our ability to endure.

The Paradox of Trusting God

Trusting God is a paradox. On one hand, we need to trust Him completely, knowing that He is all-sufficient and great. On the other hand, we must also understand that we cannot fully comprehend God's wisdom or plans. In Romans 11:33, it says, "Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!" This means that there will be times when we won't be able to understand why God allowed something to happen. In such situations, we must simply trust Him and continue to obey His commands.

Faith in the Midst of Uncertainty

Faith is not about having all the answers or understanding everything that happens. Rather, it's about trusting God, even when we don't have the answers. In Psalm 91:1-2, it says, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" This verse encourages us to trust in God, knowing that He will be with us, even in the midst of trials and uncertainty. By trusting God, we can experience a deeper knowledge of Him and have our paths directed by Him. As we trust in God, we can say, "I have trusted in the Lord; I shall not slip" (Psalm 26:1).
