Your Question:

Why is God allowing my chronic pain to control my life?

Answer:

As a pastor, I've had the privilege of walking with many people through the valley of suffering, and I've come to realize that God's ways are not our ways. He doesn't always take away pain and suffering, but He uses it to draw us closer to Himself. In the midst of chronic pain, it's easy to feel like God is absent or uncaring, but the truth is, He's working everything out for our good, even when we can't see it.

The Bible teaches us that God allows suffering so that we will have intellectual mastery of certain events, and it gives us knowledge so that we would know and trust God. It's a mystery, and we may not fully understand why God allows certain things to happen, but we can trust that He's working everything out for our good. As the psalmist said, "God, I don't know what you're doing, but you do, and that's enough." (Psalm 115:3)

In our church, we've had people who have suffered from chronic pain, and it's been a challenge for them to trust God in the midst of it. But as they've turned to Him, they've found that He's been faithful to provide for them and to give them the strength they need to persevere. It's not that God takes away the pain, but He gives us the power to trust and obey Him even in the midst of it. As the Bible says, "We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." (Romans 5:3-4)
