The Nature of Darkness

The Bible teaches that darkness is a result of humanity's rebellion against God. In Psalm 82:6-8, it is written that God has not left us in darkness, but we have chosen to walk in it. Jesus also teaches that the darkness that is in us can be overcome by the light that is in us (Matthew 6:22-23). This is possible through faith in Jesus Christ, who is the light of the world (John 8:12). When we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin (1 John 1:5-7).

The Promise of Escape

Believers are not in darkness, and they will escape the coming darkness (1 Thessalonians 5:4-5). In fact, believers are light in the Lord (Ephesians 5:8-9). This means that they are connected to Christ and will be exposed to the light of God's presence. The resurrection life is designed to bring us to light, and believers are commanded to cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light (Romans 13:12). This is possible through faith in Jesus Christ, who is the light that overcomes the darkness.

The Call to Trust

In the face of darkness, we must trust in God's sovereignty and goodness. We must remember that God is light and in him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). We must also remember that God is always with us, even in the darkest of times (Psalm 139:7-12). Jesus encourages us to stay in the light and believe in him, so that we may escape the darkness (John 12:35-36). This is a call to trust in God's goodness and sovereignty, even in the midst of uncertainty and darkness. By trusting in God, we can find peace and hope, even in the midst of the darkest times.
