How do I keep fighting when everything hurts?
The Battle for Victory: A Call to Spiritual Warfare
As a Christian, I want to encourage you to engage in the battle against hurt and despair. The reason we often feel like the battle is lost is that we fight it first in the external world, dealing with the symptoms rather than the root cause. However, God calls us to do battle before Him, to settle the matter once and for all. This means getting alone with God, praying, and seeking His guidance and strength.
God Fights for You
When we feel exhausted and unable to fight, God gives us other people to help us. The church functions like a tag-team wrestling match, where we can call for help and support from others. But even with the help of others, we must remember that God fights for us. He is our ultimate strength and victory. As Paul says, "Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus" (2 Tim. 2:3). This means persevering in the face of prolonged struggles, trusting that God is with us and fighting for us.
Prayer and Spiritual Warfare
To truly engage in the battle against hurt and despair, we must pray. Prayer is one of the places where our heart is revealed, and it can test our resolve to fight against lingering anger. The Lord's Prayer (Matt. 6:9-13) can be a powerful guide for our spiritual warfare. We can ask God to temper our anger with patience and love, and to help us see ourselves and others with a clearer perspective. By doing so, we can begin to see that our fight is not with the people around us, but with the devil, who is our true enemy. With God's help and guidance, we can emerge victorious in the battle against hurt and despair.
