Experiencing Faith

Can our actions have the power to bring about change in a chaotic world filled with noise and distractions when our faith is constantly being tested by chaos and uncertainty?

Faith in Reality

When our faith is rooted in reality, nothing can shake it. The reality is that God created us and has the power to sustain and govern the universe. He can cause dramatic effects at the level of everyday life without falling into intervention. However, this does not mean that our actions can bring about change in a chaotic world. Instead, our actions can glorify God in difficult circumstances, even if they do not change circumstances. This is because our faith is not about what we do, but about Jesus Christ and what He has done and what He is still doing.

Faith in the Future

Faith is about opening ourselves freely to the future, which involves obedient self-commitment and inward detachment from the world. It is not about trying to control the future or change circumstances. When our faith is in experiences, anything that happens is likely to upset that faith. But when our faith is in reality, nothing can ever change God or the reality He has built. Our actions can be a reflection of our faith, but they do not have the power to bring about change in a chaotic world.

Triumphing Over Circumstances

Our outlook of faith must always triumph personally over our circumstances. This does not mean that our circumstances will change, but that we can glorify God in them. Our faith may not change circumstances, but it can bring about a change in us. We can develop dynamic faith that is not shaken by chaos and uncertainty. This faith is based on abundant evidence, rationally weighed and considered. It is not about being unreasonable or blindly following our faith. Instead, it is about trusting in God's sovereignty and power to sustain and govern the universe.
