Am I Worth Saving?

The Question of Self-Worth

When we ask ourselves if we are worth saving, we are, in essence, questioning our self-worth. We are wondering if our lives are valuable enough to be rescued from the destructive patterns of sin and its consequences. The Bible teaches us that we are not our own, and our lives are not our own to manage. We are purchased by God at a great price (1 Cor. 6:20), which means our value lies not in our own merit or achievements, but in the worth of our Creator.

The Value of God's Investment

God's investment in us is not a business transaction where we are mere assets to be bought and sold. Rather, it is a sacrificial act of love, where God gives His own Son to redeem us from the slavery of sin (Rom. 6:23). This means that our value is not determined by our worthiness or unworthiness, but by the value that God places on us. We are not just a commodity to be saved or discarded; we are beloved children of God, created in His image and worthy of His love and redemption.

The Freedom of Surrender

When we recognize that our lives are not our own, we are free to surrender to God's sovereignty and His plan for our lives. We no longer have to worry about our own worthiness or the fear of loss, because we know that we are managed by the One who created and redeemed us. This surrender brings a sense of peace, freedom, and joy that we cannot find in our own efforts to save ourselves. So, the question is not "Am I worth saving?" but "Am I willing to surrender to the One who has already purchased me at a great price?" When we do, we discover that our value is not determined by our own self-worth, but by the worth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
