Is this what it means to be abandoned by God?

When we think of abandonment by God, we often think of God's absence or lack of interest in our lives. However, the Bible teaches us that God is always present and has a particular interest in those who have been sinned against, neglected, or abandoned. In fact, God has a purpose in our lives, and we are His ambassadors. When we feel abandoned by God, it may be a sign that we have surrendered to our circumstances and have not surrendered to God. Surrendering to God means letting go of our own desires and ambitions and allowing Him to guide us.

The concept of abandonment by God is closely tied to the idea of surrender. When we surrender to God, we no longer think about what He is going to do, but rather we trust in His sovereignty and goodness. We abandon our own plans and desires and allow God to work in our lives. This surrender is not a one-time event, but a continuous process of letting go and trusting in God. As the Bible says, "Abandon all merely human security and thus to overcome the despair which arises from the attempt to find security, an attempt which is always vain." (Salvation 834) When we surrender to God, we are not abandoning Him, but rather, we are abandoning our own attempts to control and manipulate our lives.

In the Bible, abandonment by God is often associated with the idea of God's judgment on His people. For example, in Psalm 27:4, David says, "Behold, your house is left to you deserted." This means that God has withdrawn His presence and blessing from His people, and they are left to face the consequences of their own sin. However, this is not the same as saying that God has abandoned us in the sense of being uninterested or uncaring. Rather, it is a call to repentance and a reminder that God is always present and active in our lives, even when we feel abandoned. As the Bible says, "God is not far from each one of us. For 'In him we live and move and have our being' (Acts 17:27-28)." We must not confuse God's absence with His abandonment, and instead, we must learn to trust in His sovereignty and goodness, even in the midst of difficult circumstances.
