Your Question:

What happens when love turns to anger in a chaotic world filled with noise and distractions?

Answer:

As a pastor, I've seen firsthand how love can turn to anger in a chaotic world filled with noise and distractions. When we're not careful, our emotions can get the best of us, and we can become quick to anger. But Scripture reminds us to be slow to speak and slow to become angry (James 1:19). This means taking a step back, calming down, and reflecting on our emotions before reacting.

Love remembers its own offences and sins, and the great forgiveness received, and therefore doesn't constantly pick at others (Matthew 18:21-35). When we're angry, it's easy to focus on the other person's wrongdoings, but love keeps no record of wrongs. Instead, we should be focusing on our own hearts and seeking to forgive, just as we've been forgiven. My wife Susan has been a great example of this in our marriage. When I've been struggling with anger, she's prayed for me, asking God to help me be controlled by the Holy Spirit rather than my emotions.

As a husband and father, I've also seen how anger can affect those around me. When I'm controlled by anger, I can become a heavy burden to my family, causing them to feel hurt and distant. But when I'm filled with love, I'm able to respond in a way that brings peace and reconciliation. It's a constant battle, but one that's worth fighting. As Scripture says, "A gift in secret pacifies anger" (Proverbs 21:14). When we pray for each other and seek to be controlled by the Holy Spirit, we can transform our relationships and become peacemakers, even in the midst of chaos.
