Your Question:

How do I find peace in the midst of uncertainty?

Answer:

As I reflect on how to find peace in the midst of uncertainty, I'm reminded of the words of Stephen Covey, who said that we achieve inner peace when our schedule aligns with our values. However, I believe that true inner peace is impossible unless it is received from Jesus. When our Lord speaks peace, He creates peace, because the words that He speaks are always spirit, and they are life.

For me, peace comes from looking into Jesus' face and fully understanding and receiving His quiet contentment. It's not a natural peace, as the world gives, but the peace of Jesus. This peace is an immeasurable, deep peace that God sovereignly sends, and it counters our hostility into friendship, out of wrath into the fullness of love, and out of condemnation into justification. The peace of God is first and foremost peace with God; it is the state of affairs in which God, instead of being against us, is for us.

As a pastor, I've seen many people struggling with peace in their lives. They often fear that their hopes are empty, hollow, mere specters without a home. But I believe that as Christians, we can have God's peace in the midst of uncertainty. We can ask ourselves if our inner life is separate from confusion and disorder, and if we're frequently or continually active in well-ordered and well-controlled actions that further God's glory. By seeking to align our values with God's values, we can experience the peace of Jesus and find comfort in His presence, even in the midst of turmoil.
