Spiritual guidance powered by AI and grounded in Scripture
Is it wrong to want to take a break from God when I'm feeling so overwhelmed?
As a pastor, I've seen many people struggle with feeling overwhelmed and wanting to take a break from God. But I believe it's essential to remember that God doesn't expect us to endure in our own strength. However, when we rely on worldly opinions instead of God's guidance, we risk neglecting to focus our eyes on Him.
The Bible warns us about the dangers of allowing the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches to choke out the life of God in us. When we're feeling overwhelmed, it's tempting to give up and say, "Oh well, I prayed and things didn't turn out right anyway. So I'm simply going to give up on everything." But that's not what God wants for us. He wants us to seek Him with our whole heart, to focus on Him every day, and to continually separate ourselves from everything except what He has appointed us to do.
When we're going through a spiritual crisis, it's essential to remember that God is always the God we know Him to be when we're nearest to Him. We shouldn't worry about our lives or try to control the outcome. Instead, we should continually seek God's guidance and direction, and be willing to go out in complete surrender to Him. This means being immersed in the great fundamental truths of God's redemption, and being rooted and grounded in Him, so that we remain true to Him whatever happens.
