The Nature of Disability

In fact, the Bible teaches us that our worth and value come from our relationship with God, not from our physical or mental capacities. As the Psalmist writes, "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it" (Psalm 139:13-14, NLT). Our value and identity are rooted in our creation by God and our redemption through Jesus Christ.

The Transforming Power of Faith

The Bible also teaches us that faith can transform our experiences, including those related to disability. As Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10, NIV). This promise is available to all people, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities. In fact, the Bible often highlights the contributions and faithfulness of people with disabilities, such as the prophet Isaiah, who was blind but still proclaimed the word of God (Isaiah 6:1-13). Similarly, the apostle Paul, who had a physical disability, wrote extensively about the gospel and its power to transform lives (2 Corinthians 12:7-10). These examples demonstrate that people with disabilities can live full and meaningful lives, and that their experiences can be a source of strength and inspiration for others.

A Life Worth Living
