Why do I feel so abandoned by God when I need Him most?
The feeling of abandonment by God is a common experience for many Christians. It is often accompanied by feelings of frustration, anger, and despair. However, the Bible teaches us that God is not one to abandon us. In fact, He has a particular interest in those who have been sinned against, neglected, or abandoned (Jer. 23:1-8). He has a purpose in our lives, and we are His ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20). Despite our feelings, God is seeking us more than we are seeking Him (Psalm 119:176). When we look beyond the roadblocks in the road to God, we will see that He is always present and working in our lives. The problem is not that God has abandoned us, but rather that we have abandoned ourselves to Him. We have not surrendered our wills and our lives to Him, and therefore, we do not really trust Him. We are still in control, and we are still seeking our own ways instead of His. This is why we feel abandoned by God.
The feeling of abandonment by God is often a result of our own unvoiced frustrations and disappointments. We may feel that God has not given us the success we desired, or that He has not heard our prayers. We may feel that God is not enough, and that we cannot continue without Him. However, the Bible teaches us that God is sufficient for all our needs (Philippians 4:19). He gives us His presence, His peace, and His guidance. He is our rock, our refuge, and our strength (Psalm 18:2). When we look at God, we must realize that He is seeking us more than we are seeking Him. We must surrender our wills and our lives to Him, and trust in Him at all times (Psalm 37:3-4). We must not focus on the roadblocks of life, but rather on the road to God. We must be determined to seek Him with our whole heart, and to abandon ourselves to Him.
The feeling of abandonment by God is not a reason to give up on our faith. Rather, it is an opportunity to re-examine our relationship with God. We must ask ourselves what is keeping us from God. Is it a habit that we cannot break? Is it a lack of concern for what God is trying to do in our hearts? Whatever it is, we must not let it block our access to God. We must seek Him with our whole heart, and trust in Him at all times. We must realize that God is not one to abandon us, but rather He is seeking us more than we are seeking Him. When we look beyond the roadblocks in the road to God, we will see that He is always present and working in our lives. We will see that He has a purpose in our lives, and that we are His ambassadors. We will see that He is sufficient for all our needs, and that He is our rock, our refuge, and our strength. We will see that He is seeking us, and that we must seek Him with our whole heart.
