Is it selfish to want a different outcome?

Selfishness, in the sense of seeking one's own good at the expense of others, is indeed wrong. However, the question of whether it is selfish to want a different outcome is more complex. The Bible teaches us to do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself (Phil. 2:3 NASB). This verse suggests that we should consider the needs and well-being of others when making decisions.

The distinction between selfishness and wanting a different outcome lies in the motivations behind our desires.
