Can I really trust my doctor with my health?

The Nature of Trust

Trust is a fundamental aspect of any relationship, including the one between a patient and their doctor. However, this trust is not always unconditional. It is built on the understanding that the doctor has the necessary expertise, experience, and compassion to provide the best possible care. When a patient presents their symptoms to a doctor, they are essentially saying, "I need your expertise to diagnose and treat my condition." As the apostle Paul writes, "God will not let you be tested more than you can stand. But when you are tested, He will also make a way out so that you can bear it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). This promise encourages us to trust in God's goodness and faithfulness, even as we seek medical care and rely on the expertise of our doctors. Ultimately, trust in God is the foundation upon which trust in human relationships, including the doctor-patient relationship, is built.
