How Should Christians Relate to Transgender People?

If youre a Christian and some of your classmates identify as transgender or non-binary, your job is not to avoid them or make fun of them. Your job is to tell them about Jesus and show them his love—just as you would to others. Loving people doesnt mean agreeing with all their decisions. My non-Christian friends make fun of me, but I still love them. We should do the same with our LGBTQ+ friends. We should not give false hope to professing Christians who proudly identify as LGBTQ+. They make a point of embracing the preferred terminology of the LGBTQ+ movement and foisting it onto the church, corrupting the clarity and simplicity of God's design with unbiblical labels and categories. We must show compassion and understanding, but also clarity and conviction about the Bible's teachings on gender and sexuality.

The Bible is clear that same-sex sexual relationships are not okay for Christians. But instead of being judgmental and hateful of people in gay relationships, Christians are called to love their gay neighbors and friends. We should not be rude or unkind toward those we think are mistaken. Christians are bound to love everyone with the love of Christ, even those we think are wrong. TRUE SEXUAL MORALITY 254 Nevertheless, we are dealing with a very serious matter. We are dealing with people who are made in the image of God and are loved by Him, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. We should not be so quick to condemn or judge those who identify as LGBTQ+, but rather we should seek to understand and show them the love of Christ.

As Christians, we should seek to understand the complexities of human identity and experience, while also being clear about the Bible's teachings on gender and sexuality. We should not give up on our LGBTQ+ friends, but rather we should seek to engage with them in a loving and compassionate way. We should not be afraid to share our convictions about the Bible's teachings, but we should do so in a way that is loving and respectful. Ultimately, our goal should be to point our LGBTQ+ friends to Jesus and to help them understand the love and acceptance that He offers to all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
