Biblical Answer

The Bible teaches us that giving is a fundamental aspect of our relationship with God. In the Old Testament, the Israelites were instructed to give a tithe, or 10% of their income, to the Lord. This tithe was to be given to support the Levites, the poor, and the needy. In Deuteronomy 14:22-29, we read about the regulations for tithes of crops and firstlings of herds. While the command to tithe may not automatically apply to Christians today, the principle of giving remains. In Matthew 6:21, Jesus teaches us that "where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." This means that when we give generously to God, our hearts are more likely to be focused on Him. Furthermore, in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, we read that God is able to make all grace abound to us, so that having all sufficiency in all things, we may abound to every good work. This shows us that God is willing to provide for us as we give generously to Him.

So, what if you can't afford to tithe? The truth is, you can't afford not to. As we consistently set aside savings and give generously to God, He provides more. This is not just a principle, but a promise from God. In Malachi 3:10, we read that if we bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, God will "open the windows of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." Don't wait until you have more money to start giving - start today, and watch God provide for you. Show them that consistently setting aside savings and giving generously to God is not a sacrifice, but a source of blessing. As we trust God with our finances, He will provide for us and enable us to live a life of generosity and faith.
