Did Jesus ever get angry?

Jesus did experience anger, although the Bible does not portray him as being angry all the time. In Mark 3:5, Jesus is described as becoming angry with people who refused to let the blind man see. He was also grieved by stubborn hearts (Mark 3:5). Jesus severely rebuked his own disciples (Mark 8:33). His anger was not directed at people who were against him personally, but rather at those who were leading others down a destructive path or shaming his Father's temple.

Jesus' anger was not the same as God's anger. While God is described as being slow to anger (Ex 34:6), Jesus' anger was a response to specific situations. He was not angry because of what was done to him, but rather because of the impact of people's actions on others. Jesus' secret was that he loved people and wanted to see them come to God, even if they were opposed to him. His anger was not a sign of personal offense, but rather a desire to correct the wrongs that were being committed.

The Bible teaches that it is possible to be angry and still not sin. In James 1:19-20, it is written, "You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteousness that God desires." Jesus' anger was a response to the situations he faced, but it was not sinful. In fact, it was a sign of his love for people and his desire to see them come to God. We can learn from Jesus' example and seek to be angry in a way that is not sinful, but rather a response to the situations we face.
