**What is a Good Person?**
To be a good person means to give in to the claims of society and to act in accordance with what is right, even when it interferes with one's own desires. According to the Bible, every one of us is fashioned in the image of God, and our lives should reflect this. We are not morally self-sufficient, but rather our goodness is relative to the goodness of God. This means that good is defined in relationship to the will and being of God, and it is what glorifies him, fulfills his will, and conforms to his nature.
In contrast to this, some people would say that what we call good or bad is merely a human point of view, and that the wiser you become the less you would want to call anything good or bad. However, the Bible teaches that there are objective moral standards, and that certain actions are inherently good or bad, regardless of human opinion. For example, kindness is inherently good, and it is something that we can do even when it gives us no pleasure. This suggests that we have a positive inclination toward the good, and that we are capable of acting in accordance with moral principles, even if it is difficult or uncomfortable.
The Bible also teaches that we are all capable of good, and that most people are good. However, this goodness is not based on our own efforts or merits, but rather on the fact that we are forgiven and redeemed through Jesus Christ. As the Bible says, "If their lifes deeds were placed on a scale, the good would outweigh the bad" (Samples, 7T, 135-136). This suggests that our goodness is not just a human quality, but rather it is a reflection of the goodness of God, and that we are capable of good because of our relationship with him. Ultimately, being a good person means living a life that reflects the character of God, and that brings glory to him.
