The question of why you had to lose your life savings in the investment scam is a complex one. The Bible teaches that Christians are susceptible to the lie that what you own has lasting value. This is a form of idolatry, where we put our trust in something other than God. In the book of Matthew, Jesus warns his followers about the dangers of materialism, saying that you cannot serve God and money at the same time (Matthew 6:24). This is because our true treasure is in heaven, not on earth. When we put our trust in earthly possessions, we are essentially saying that we believe they have the power to save us, which is a lie.

The Bible also teaches that we should be content with what we have. In Hebrews 13:5, it says, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." This is a promise that God will always be with us, no matter what happens in our lives. When we are content with what we have, we are free from the love of money and the desire to accumulate more and more possessions. This is a key aspect of living a life that reflects Christian values and teachings. By trusting in God and being content with what we have, we can avoid the pitfalls of materialism and find true security and peace in Him.
