Biblical Answer

When everything is taken away, the meaning of life is not lost, but rather, it is revealed. The Bible teaches that our lives have inherent value and significance because we are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). This value and significance are not based on our accomplishments, possessions, or circumstances, but rather on our relationship with God. When we accept Christ as our Savior, we are given a new identity and purpose in life, which is to glorify God and enjoy a relationship with Him (Psalm 16:11). This purpose is not taken away, even when everything else is.

The concept of meaninglessness is a result of a worldview that denies the existence of God and an afterlife. If there is no God, then life has no objective meaning, value, or purpose. However, the Bible teaches that God is sovereign over all creation and that He has a purpose for our lives. This purpose is not limited to this life, but rather extends into eternity. As the Bible says, "For we live by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7). Our faith in God gives us the assurance that our lives have meaning and significance, even when everything else is taken away.

In the face of adversity, it is easy to lose sight of the meaning of life. However, the Bible teaches that even in the midst of trials and hardships, there is meaning and purpose. Our character is being perfected, our faith is being built, and our heavenly reward is being increased (Romans 5:3-4). This is not to say that we should not enjoy the blessings of this life, but rather that we should not find our ultimate meaning and satisfaction in them. As the Bible says, "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all" (2 Corinthians 4:17). In the end, the meaning of life is not found in what we have or what we do, but rather in our relationship with God.
