Your Question:
Why did God allow this to happen?
Answer:
As a pastor, I've often been asked this very question: why did God allow something to happen when He could have prevented it? The truth is, we don't always understand God's ways, and we can't always see the bigger picture. But what we do know is that God's loving providence is not exercised arbitrarily or purposelessly. He overrules all events for the ultimate good of His children, even if the immediate effects seem devastating. In the Bible, we see examples of how God's sovereignty works, even in the midst of chaos. For instance, the Israelites were oppressed by the Egyptians, but God used that very situation to multiply His people and ultimately lead them to freedom. Similarly, in our own lives, we may face challenges and difficulties, but we can trust that God is working everything out for our good. As the apostle Peter writes, "Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will do right and entrust their souls to a faithful Creator" (1 Peter 4:19). I believe that God allows us to experience difficulties and hardships so that we can learn to trust Him and rely on His wisdom, even when we don't understand what He's doing. It's a way of making sure that no one ends up on God's side by mistake, as it requires dying to self and choosing to follow Him on purpose. Perhaps God gave Satan a special advantage to make sure that sinners would need to make a hard choice against something very strong pulling the other way, and that's why He allowed evil to exist in the first place.
