Why did God allow my family member to betray you?

The question of why God allowed a family member to betray us is a complex and deeply personal one. From a biblical perspective, we can look at the example of Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus, and see how God used this act of betrayal for the ultimate purpose of redemption. Despite knowing that Judas would betray him, Jesus still chose to love and trust him, and ultimately used his actions to bring about salvation for all who believed in him.

In the context of our own lives, we can see that God's sovereignty and love are not limited by our choices or actions. Even when we experience betrayal, God is still in control and working out His purposes. As Jesus said, "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last" (John 15:16). This means that God's plan and purposes are not dependent on our decisions, but rather on His own sovereign will. Our experiences of betrayal can be opportunities for us to trust in God's goodness and love, even when we don't understand what He is doing.

The Bible teaches us that God's forgiveness and love are available to us, no matter what we have done. As 1 John 1:7 says, "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." This means that we can come to God in repentance and receive His forgiveness, even if we have betrayed Him or others. As we seek to understand God's purposes and actions in our lives, we can trust in His love and sovereignty, and know that He is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). May we come to God in humility and trust, and may He reveal His goodness and love to us in the midst of our struggles and pain.
