Why did God allow my family member to betray me?

This question is a painful and difficult one, especially when it comes from a family member. The Bible teaches us that God is sovereign over all creation, and that He knows all things, including the plans and actions of individuals (Psalm 139:1-6). In the case of Judas Iscariot, Jesus knew that he would betray Him, and yet, Jesus did not prevent it (John 13:21-27). Instead, Jesus used Judas' betrayal to fulfill the Scriptures and to bring about His own crucifixion and resurrection (Matthew 26:24). Similarly, when a family member betrays us, we may wonder why God allowed it to happen. However, we must remember that God is not the author of evil, but rather, He is the One who can bring good out of evil (Romans 8:28).

When we experience betrayal, it can be tempting to question God's love and sovereignty. We may wonder why He didn't prevent the betrayal or why He allowed it to happen. However, the Bible teaches us that God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). God's plan is often bigger than our own, and He may allow difficult circumstances to occur in order to bring about greater good. In the case of Judas' betrayal, it was a necessary part of God's plan to bring about Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection. Similarly, when a family member betrays us, God may be using that situation to bring about greater good in our lives, even if we can't see it at the time.

It's also important to remember that God's forgiveness and love are not conditional on our circumstances. Just because someone betrays us doesn't mean that God has abandoned us or that He is angry with us. In fact, the Bible teaches us that God's love for us is not based on our performance or behavior, but rather on His own character and nature (1 John 4:8-10). When we experience betrayal, we must remember to forgive others, just as God forgives us (Matthew 6:14-15). We must also remember to trust in God's goodness and sovereignty, even when we don't understand what's happening. By doing so, we can experience greater peace and joy, even in the midst of difficult circumstances.
