What does it mean to be lost?

The Bible teaches that man is hopelessly lost due to his separation from God, resulting from true moral guilt. This concept is not that of a person who is merely sick, but rather one who is dead in their sin (Ephesians 2:1). The idea of being lost is not that of a person who can help themselves, but rather one who is in need of divine grace to assist them. This concept is further emphasized by the fact that no one seeks for God (Romans 3:11). The lost are depraved and are in dire need of salvation.
