Your Question:

What's the point of going to church when everyone is judging me?

Answer:

I can understand why you might feel uncomfortable in church, especially if you've had negative experiences with some Christians. But let me tell you, my wife Susan and I have been married for 19 years, and we've been attending church regularly for most of that time. We've seen our fair share of hypocrites, but we've also seen the power of community and the love of Christ at work in people's lives.

As a pastor, I've seen firsthand how easy it is to get caught up in judging others. But Jesus teaches us not to judge, and to focus on our own sin and self-examination instead. When we start judging others, it's a sign that we're not focusing on our own relationship with God. And that's exactly what the Bible warns against in Colossians 2:16-17. We're not to judge others by their food, drink, festivals, or other cultural practices. Instead, we're to focus on Christ and our relationship with Him.

You see, church is not just about feeling comfortable or being part of a social club. It's about being part of a family that loves and supports each other, even when we're not feeling our best. As a father, I want my children Joshua and Rebecca to see what it means to be a passionate follower of Jesus, and to learn how to love and serve others. By attending church regularly, we're modeling that behavior for them, and teaching them the importance of community and fellowship.
