When Your World is Being Destroyed

When your world is being destroyed, it can be overwhelming to think about anything else. The feeling of hopelessness and despair can be crushing. However, as followers of Jesus Christ, we have a hope that transcends this world. We know that our God is sovereign over all creation, and He is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). This means that even in the midst of destruction, God is still in control and is working towards a greater good.

In the face of destruction, we are called to live holy lives and to demonstrate godliness. This is not about pretending that everything is okay when it's not, but rather about trusting in God's goodness and sovereignty, even when we don't understand what's happening. We are to be people who are looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, when He will judge the world in righteousness and destroy all that is evil (2 Peter 3:12). This is a call to live with a sense of urgency and purpose, knowing that our time on this earth is short and that we are to be about the business of spreading the Gospel and making disciples.

As we face destruction, we must remember that we are not alone. Jesus is always with us, and He has given us authority in His name to stop evil and permit good (Matthew 18:18). We can submit to God in prayer and ask Him to intervene in our situations, trusting that He is able to do so. We can also take comfort in the fact that God is not just a distant observer, but an active participant in our lives. He is working to bring about a new heaven and a new earth, where there will be no more destruction or evil (Revelation 21:1-4). Until that day, we are to live with hope and confidence, trusting in God's goodness and sovereignty, even in the midst of destruction.
