Destruction: A World in Chaos

When the world around you seems to be crumbling, it's natural to feel overwhelmed and uncertain about the future. The Bible speaks of a time of great destruction, where God will lay waste to the earth, devastate it, and ruin everything that is opposed to His will (Isaiah 13:9-10). This destruction is not just a natural disaster, but a spiritual one, where God will judge the wicked and punish those who have rejected Him. The Bible says, "The Lord will strike a severe blow to the entire earth... He will lay it waste, devastate it, and ruin everything that is opposed to His will" (Isaiah 13:9-10).

A Call to Repentance

In the midst of this destruction, God calls us to repentance and to turn back to Him. The Bible says, "Come back to God... Eventually your mind and through it, your entire body and soul will anchor itself in God, will abide" (Matthew 18:18). This is not a call to be fearful or anxious, but to trust in God's sovereignty and goodness. We are called to live holy lives, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, when He will judge the world in righteousness (2 Peter 3:11-13). This means living a life that reflects God's values and teachings, and seeking to stop evil and permit good in the world.

A Future Hope

Despite the destruction that is coming, we have a future hope in Jesus Christ. The Bible says, "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, each one according to his works" (Revelation 20:13). But ultimately, God's plan is not to destroy the earth and everything in it, but to restore and renew it. He will create a new heaven and a new earth, where there will be no more death, mourning, or crying (Revelation 21:4). This is a future hope that gives us comfort and encouragement in the midst of chaos and destruction. We can trust in God's goodness and sovereignty, and look forward to a future where He will be all in all.
