The Purpose of Life: A Biblical Perspective

The question of purpose in life is a universal one, affecting people of all ages and backgrounds. While some may argue that life has no inherent meaning, the Bible provides a clear answer to this question. According to Scripture, our major purpose in life is to fulfill the reason that God created us: to glorify Him. This purpose is rooted in our relationship with God, who is the Creator of the universe and the Author of life. As the Bible says, "We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10).

From a biblical perspective, our purpose in life is not something we create for ourselves, but rather something that is given to us by God. This purpose is not limited to our personal happiness or fulfillment, but rather is centered on serving God and bringing glory to His name. As the Bible says, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10). Our purpose is not something we discover through science or philosophy, but rather is revealed to us through our relationship with God.

In a world that often emphasizes personal happiness and fulfillment, it is easy to get sidetracked from our true purpose in life. However, when we prioritize our relationship with God and seek to fulfill His purposes for us, we find true meaning and fulfillment. As the Bible says, "Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). When we seek to glorify God and fulfill His purposes for us, we find that our lives take on a sense of purpose and direction that is not found in anything else. This is the purpose of life: to glorify God and bring Him glory through our lives.
