Can I still have a sense of self-worth if I'm a failure, and I lost my business?

The Bible tells us that we are not defined by our failures, but by our relationship with God. In Genesis 6-7, we see that God's standard is not based on human success or failure, but on His unwavering commandments. When we fail, it is not a reflection of our worth as individuals, but rather a reminder that we have fallen short of God's standards. As the Bible says, "You will find it in the wealthy physically and emotionally abused. This is not to brand you a failure, but to applaud your effort, even if it didn't succeed." (158)

A key concept to understand is that failure is not the same as being a failure. You can fail at something, but still be a productive and valuable person. As the Bible says, "You may learn vital lessons from your failures and become stronger. You may even use your failures as the greatest classroom of life." (158) This means that even in the midst of failure, we can find opportunities for growth and learning. We can choose to see our failures as a chance to learn and become stronger, rather than as a definition of our worth.

In order to maintain a sense of self-worth despite failure, it's essential to shift our focus from external validation to our relationship with God. When we base our self-worth on our achievements, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment and shame. But when we understand that our worth comes from God, we can find freedom from the cycle of failure and shame. As the Bible says, "You will have no true wisdom till you do" face the facts and see life as it is. (158) This means being honest with ourselves about our weaknesses and limitations, and finding our identity in Christ, rather than in our achievements. By doing so, we can maintain a sense of self-worth that is not tied to our external successes or failures.
