Sex as a Gift from God

Sex is a gift from God, and we should accept it with gratitude. However, rules for enjoying God's gift of sex are set by the Giver, not by what pleases us. Without knowing God well, some people fear sex, while others use it as a means to an end, rather than as a gift from God. God did not create sex for no reason, leaving us to make up anything we like. He made sex to unite two people in a profound way and to enable them to produce something valuable.

The Goodness of Sex

The Bible reveals that sex is very good because it is a gift from God. It is a method that God invented to do whole life entrustment and self-giving, and it should not surprise us that sex makes us feel deeply connected to the other person. Sex reveals the sacred in our lives, including our worth, our love, and our lovemaking. However, good sex is not God; God defines good sex. Good sex never defines God. The Bible never allows using sex in worship as a way to reach God. Instead, when God comes first, sex works according to plan and is a lot more rewarding than anything sinners experience.

God's Approach to Sex

God's approach to the value of sex is wonderfully positive because it is based on himself. Good sex does in fact reflect the goodness of God. However, the goodness of God does not reflect the goodness of sex. The value of God is not found in sex, but in Himself. To view sex in a positive sense as a mirror of our desire and passion for God, the institution of marriage becomes all-important. If we think about sex only within the confines of marriage, thereby sanctifying it as God intended it, we will begin to see sex as a gift from God that brings joy and satisfaction to our lives.
