Why is this happening to me when I've been a good person?

This question often arises from a misunderstanding of what it means to be a "good person." In the Bible, being good is not simply about feeling good or doing good things, but about living in accordance with God's nature and character. As the apostle Paul writes, "The natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God, neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14). This means that our good deeds and actions are not enough to earn us salvation or happiness, but rather are evidence of God's work in us.

When we experience sadness or difficulties, it's often because we've been living in a way that's contrary to God's will. This can be due to our own sinful nature, or the influence of the devil, who seeks to tempt us away from God. As the Bible says, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). When we're living in sin, we're not experiencing the fullness of life that God has for us, and this can lead to feelings of sadness and despair.

The key to overcoming these feelings is to recognize our need for God's salvation and to seek His help. As the Bible says, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting" (Psalm 139:23-24). When we humble ourselves before God and acknowledge our sin, He is able to forgive us and give us new life. This is the only way to experience true happiness and fulfillment, and it's the only way to overcome the sadness and difficulties that come from living in sin. As Jesus said, "I came that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). This is the promise of God's salvation, and it's available to all who seek it.
