The Purpose of God's Testing

God desires that there should be no physical pain in his creation. However, He decides not to realize this desire by a special act of His own in particular instances. This means that He may allow chronic pain to exist in the world. But why? One reason is that God wants to employ certain strategies to test our faith and bring us closer to Him.
