Your Question:
What if I lose my
Answer:
My friend, I'm glad you asked this question. As a pastor, I've seen many people struggle with the concept of losing something truly precious. According to the Scriptures, to lose our life for the sake of the gospel is to actually save it (Mark 8:35). By losing our life, I mean surrendering our ego, our self, and our individuality to Christ. This doesn't mean we lose our individuality, but rather, our will is submitted to His will. In fact, the Bible says that whoever loses their life will save it (Luke 9:24). This is a paradox, isn't it? We think that losing something means we'll be left with nothing, but in this case, losing our life for Christ means we'll gain something far more valuable - our soul, our true self, and our relationship with God. As Paul says, "I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord" (Philippians 3:8). So, what if I lose my life? I'll save it. I'll gain something far more precious than what I had before. I'll gain a deeper relationship with God, a sense of purpose and meaning, and a life that's truly lived for Him. As Jesus says, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7-8). Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. That's the promise of the Scriptures.
