As a pastor, I've seen many people struggle with the concept of God's forgiveness. They feel like they've made too many mistakes, or that they're not worthy of forgiveness. But the truth is, God's forgiveness is not based on our worthiness, but on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. When we come to God with a repentant heart, He forgives us fully, not just for our initial sins, but for all of our sins, past, present, and future.
The Bible is clear on this point. In 1 John 1:7, it says, "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." This means that no matter what we've done, God will forgive us. It's not about what we know or how we act, but about our faith in Jesus Christ. When we believe in Him, we become Christians, and our sins are forgiven. This is not just a one-time event, but a continuous process. We must continually come to God with a repentant heart, acknowledging our sins and asking for forgiveness.
As a Christian, I can attest to the power of God's forgiveness. I've seen it in my own life, and in the lives of those around me. When we forgive others, we are not just forgiving them, we are also opening ourselves up to God's forgiveness. Jesus taught us to forgive abundantly and repeatedly (Matthew 18:22; Luke 17:3-4). So, if God forgives us, how much more should we forgive our fellow man? It's a matter of humility and trust in God's goodness. When we ask for forgiveness, we are not just asking for God's forgiveness, we are also asking for the strength to forgive others.
