Can I still live comfortably in my old age?

The Bible teaches that Christians will live forever, free from sickness and disease (3 John 1:2). This means that believers will not experience the gradual decline of old age. Instead, they will be completely healthy and strong forever. However, this does not mean that believers will not face challenges in their old age. The Bible teaches that believers are to be so closely identified with the Lord that there is literally nothing of their old life remaining (2 Corinthians 5:17). This means that believers must continually seek to renew their minds and hearts, and to put off the old self and put on the new self (Ephesians 4:22-24).

In order to live comfortably in old age, believers must prioritize spiritual growth and maturity. This means being serious about seeking a deeper relationship with God, and being intentional about putting off sinful patterns and habits (Romans 6:6-7). It also means being open to the Holy Spirit's guidance and leading, and being willing to submit to His will (Romans 8:14). By doing so, believers can experience a sense of peace and contentment that transcends their physical circumstances. As Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me" (John 14:1).

Ultimately, living comfortably in old age is not just about physical health or material provision. It's about having a deep and abiding relationship with God, and being confident in His sovereignty and goodness. When believers trust in God's goodness and provision, they can experience a sense of peace and contentment that is not dependent on their circumstances. As the Bible says, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In a world full of trouble, you will be my witnesses" (John 16:33). By prioritizing spiritual growth and maturity, believers can live comfortably in old age, and experience the peace and contentment that comes from knowing God.
