Your Question:

Why does god allow good people to suffer?

Answer:

My friend, I've given this question a lot of thought, especially as a pastor. I've come to realize that God's ways are not our ways, and His reasoning may not always align with our own. In the Book of Job, we see that God's answer to Job's question about suffering is not a straightforward one. It's almost as if God is saying, "My child, I'm not causing your suffering, but I will use it for your good."

You see, as a Christian, I believe that God is a loving and gracious God. He doesn't cause suffering, but He can use it to bring about good in our lives. Perhaps the reason He allows us to suffer is not that it will benefit us directly, but that it will lead to greater good in the long run. Maybe the suffering of one person can be a catalyst for the redemption and salvation of many others. It's a complex and mysterious thing, but one thing is certain - God's love and goodness are always at work, even in the midst of suffering.

As I reflect on the nature of God and suffering, I'm reminded of the words of C.S. Lewis, who said that the weight of glory that awaits us in heaven is so great that it's beyond comparison with the suffering we endure in this life. No matter what we suffer, no matter how awful our pain, we can still say, "God is good to me!" because we know that He has a greater plan in store for us, one that will far outweigh any suffering we may endure.
