The Battle for Your Heart

When everything hurts, it can be challenging to keep fighting. It's natural to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and defeated. However, the Bible encourages us to persevere in the face of adversity. In 2 Timothy 2:3, Paul writes, "Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus." This verse reminds us that spiritual battles are not won overnight, but through consistent effort and perseverance.

Separating from the Object of Affliction

When we're hurt, it's essential to separate from the object of our affections, whether it's a person, a situation, or a sinful desire. This separation allows us to engage the battle against our emotions and thoughts. As the Bible says, "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). By separating from the source of our pain, we can begin to focus on our relationship with God and seek His guidance and strength.

Praying with Passion and Patience

Prayer is a vital part of the battle for our hearts. It's where our hearts are revealed, and we can seek God's help in dealing with our emotions and thoughts. The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) is a powerful model for prayer, reminding us to seek God's will, provision, and guidance. As we pray, we can ask God to temper our anger with patience and love, and to help us see our enemies, including the devil, as the true source of our pain. By praying with passion and patience, we can find the strength to keep fighting, even when everything hurts.
