The Question: Why did God take away my partner?

God's reasons for taking away a partner are multifaceted and often not immediately apparent to us. One reason is that God may be arranging circumstances to help us depend on Him more than we might otherwise. This is not because we don't deserve rescue, but because He loves us enough to act on our behalf. In Psalm 133:1, we see that God's plan is to restore our relationships with one another as well as with Himself.

Another reason is that God may be allowing us to experience suffering, not because He doesn't love us, but because He does. This can be a difficult concept to understand, but it is a reality that we must face. In the story of Job, we see how God allowed Job to suffer, not because He was angry with him, but because He wanted to teach Job to trust Him. In a similar way, God may be allowing us to experience pain and loss in order to teach us to trust Him and to rely on Him for our needs.

It's also possible that God took away our partner because we were not honoring our relationship with Him. When we become disengaged as married people and do not revel in our marriage, it can lead us to separation from God. In 1 Corinthians 6:18, we are warned against idolizing our spouses and engaging in sexual immorality. When we prioritize our relationships with our spouses over our relationship with God, it can lead to chaos and destruction in our lives. Ultimately, God's goal is to restore our relationships with Him and with each other, and He may take away our partner in order to accomplish this goal.
